Embroidery is a beautiful way to make an everyday object feel special—a sentiment that fits perfectly with this project. Inspired by traditional Nordic embroidery designs, explore the world of wool-on-wool embroidery with a variety of stitches and learn how to transform the fabric and liner into the miniature purse, along with attaching the kiss clasp like a pro. The embroidery yarns are from our sheep! All of the steps and techniques featured in this course are great skills to learn if you are eyeing up making a full-scale traditional purse in the future.
In the order notes, please indicate which color of wool fabric you would like on the outside. Select from the following (shown in gallery image from left to right): russet, black, navy, chocolate, tan, charcoal, oxblood. The embroidery yarns in blue and white work well with any of these color selections!
Kit includes: Wool exterior fabric (marked with the project design and cutting outline), lining fabric (marked with cutting outline), kiss clasp, wool yarn in project colors, embroidery needle, PDF download of detailed instructions with pictures. The PDF will be a download link in your email receipt.
Additional Supplies you will want to have on hand for this project: Fabric scissors, sharp thread scissors, sewing needle and thread in harmonious color(s) for assembly, stread in a contrasting color for ease in attaching to clasp, fabric pins or clips, 8 inch embroidery hoop (if desired, this is optional for this technique).
Finished coin purses are approximately 4.5 inches tall (not including top of kiss clasp) and 4 inches wide. Boxed corners offer nice roominess inside. Beginner friendly while also a delight to intermediate level embroiderers as well. Makes 1 coin purse
Happy stitching!
