Looking for a skill builder after completing Laura’s “Introduction to Tapestry Weaving, Level 2” course that offers more of a stretch and something new? This project is excellent for students who have completed Level 2, while still being a very enjoyable project for more advanced students as well. Select Erindale Tapestry Studio weaving tutorials from Levels 1 and 2 will be important resources for this project to review techniques. This kit is inspired by an inventive Navajo technique called “raised outline” that combines coal mining (pick-and-pick) with angled geometric forms, creating raised floats on the front where colors touch.  This project is designed to be made on an 18×18 inch frame loom (the same as in the classes). The kit comes with a PDF digital download essay of process photographs and descriptions that walk you through starting, weaving, and finishing your piece. This will be sent to the email that you use in the checkout as part of your receipt.

The physical part of the kit includes the colorful weft wool (from our sheep!) and the graph chart pattern. This kit does not include the warp (Jagger Spun 2 ply wool warp is recommended), loom, or hand tools (available separately).

Finished dimensions for the tapestry are 11 x 13 inches. The kit makes one tapestry.
