Farm Fresh Birkie
The sun was shining, the nine new inches of snow glistening in the glowing morning light. Ice crystals danced on the barren tree branches, and the utter stillness of Fullington Road through the deep January cold was shattered by colorful cars and folks hopping out to catch a bite for lunch, chat over steaming coffee, and enjoy some shopping. What occasion, we wondered, prompted this weekend flurry? The Seeley Hills Classic cross-country ski event! How perfect that winter put out such a splendid reception for the race!
The boost of enthusiasm at seeing old friends and meeting new ones came at just the right time in our finalization of plans to do something special for the Birkie ski events this year. What better way to offer something special from the farm than to create healthy, local, quality foods Birkie participants, spectators, and locals alike could pick up to enjoy during their busy schedule? So here’s the scoop!
This Birkie season, Farmstead Creamery & Café (in partnership with Chef Christopher Ray of 5 Course Catering) is offering fresh, unique, pre-order “Ready-to-Eat” and “Heat-and-Eat” salads, soups, and entres fresh from the farm. The meals will be ready to pick up at Farmstead or be added to our delivery route Feb. 22, 23, and 24—making them a great, healthy choice for your Birkie guests.
Orders are due on or before Feb. 12. Please spread the message now to your friends and guests before they arrive so that they don’t miss the opportunity to be part of this year’s delicious offering!
